Designing chemical technologies for a sustainable future calls for researchers with diversity in skillset, experience, and thought. The Sheehan Lab fosters an inclusive academic environment that supports innovation in both technological advancement and individual development. We highly encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply for graduate and undergraduate research positions.
Graduate Studies
PhD students can pursue research focusing on chemical valorization of waste plastics and lignocellulosic biomass into value-added chemicals and materials. Candidates with previous experiences relating to thermochemical and/or catalytic processing of lignocellulose or plastics, supercritical fluids, and reaction kinetic modeling are encouraged to apply. Candidates should email a 1-page letter of interest, CV, and (unofficial) transcripts to Dr. James Sheehan ([email protected]).
Undergraduate Research
The Sheehan Research Group supports undergraduate research experiences for motivated students looking to develop hands-on laboratory skills prior to pursuing a professional career in research or furthering their education with graduate studies. Undergraduates are encouraged to email a brief statement of interest (2-3 paragraphs) and CV/resume to Dr. James Sheehan ([email protected]).
